Eyrarbakki: A Hidden Gem for Northern Lights Viewing
Sjávargata villa is located by the ocean in Eyrarbakki, a great spot to witness the Northern Lights. With its peaceful harbour, long ocean wall, and wide open skies, the village offers unobstructed views of the aurora reflecting over the sea. Minimal light pollution and a tranquil atmosphere make Eyrarbakki an unforgettable place to enjoy nature’s most magical display.
Over a century ago, the people of Eyrarbakki came together to build a remarkable stone wall along the village’s coastline. Hand-laid, stone by stone, this enduring barrier was created to shield the community from powerful ocean surges and flooding. Today, the ocean wall stands as both a practical safeguard and a proud symbol of local resilience and cooperation, offering visitors a scenic walk with sweeping views of the Atlantic. Sjávaragata Villa is located only a few meters away from the wall.
